Karnal- On your route to Manali, you will come across this old district which is also known as the right bowl of India. The city held an important place during the Mahabharata times. Legends have it that this mesmerizing city was founded by the eldest son of Kunti, Raja Karna; therefore, it is also called the city of Daanvir Karna.

Then is 1739, the city again got highlighted when it became the place where Muhammad Shah was defeated by Nadir Shah. The citadel of ancient days, the forts present here were built by Raja Gajpat Singh of Jind.

Bhakra Nangal Dam- Situated on the border of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, this famous dam can be visited on your way to Manali from Delhi. People from all over the world come to witness this amazing engineering marvel. If you decide to stay there for a while, you can try the thrilling water sports at the Gobind Lake which is an artificial lake. Guru Gobind Singh Ji Gurudwara- This historical place is the best place to take a halt on your way to Manali for tea and mouth-watering langar. Guru Gobind Singh Ji Gurudwara is situated on the banks of River Sutlej. It is said that after winning the battle of Bhangani, Guru Gobind Singh came here and asked one of the laborers working near the burning kiln for a place to rest. An ignorant person directed Guruji to the kiln without realizing who he was. Guruji went to near the kiln and as soon as he entered it, the kiln suddenly became cool and pleasant. After this incident, a Gurudwara was built here and people from all over the country come to experience the magical aura of this holy place.

Bhuntar- Bhuntar is a pretty market town located near the Kullu Manali airport. The famous Bisheshwar Mahadeva Temple which was built in the 9^th Century is a worth a stop. The temple is a rare one built with class stone Sikhara. Covered with beautiful ornate carving, the temple is a paradise.
